PUTIN APPOINTS 20TH GENERAL ARMY COMMANDER

MOSCOW, June 21 (AVN) - Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Major General Sergei Kizyun chief-of-staff and first deputy commander of the 20th general army headquartered in Voronezh, a spokesman for the Moscow military district's HR department said on Thursday.

Earlier Kizyun was deputy commander of the 20th army. He was replaced by Major General Alexander Studenikin, former commander of the 2nd guard Taman motorised rifle division.

As a result staff changes happened in the divisions as well. Studenikin was succeeded by Colonel Andrei Glushchenko, who graduated the General Staff Academy in 2000. Glushchenko gained good reputation in the Armed Forces being commander of the 10th tank division in the Voronezh region. Colonel Ivan Buvaltsev, commander of the 27th separate Sevastopol motorised rifle brigade, is now at helm of the 10th division.
