N. CAUCASUS BORDER GUARDS TO PREVENT REBELS RELOCATION FROM GEORGIA TO CHECHNYA

STAVROPOL, June 25 (AVN) - The Itum-Kale border guard detachment is taking additional measures on preventing possible attempts of rebels on relocating their groups from Georgia to Chechnya, a spokesman for the North Caucasus regional department of the Federal Border Guard Service (FBGS) said on Monday.

A scout plane found a group of five armed people close to the border during the weekend, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. Several hours later an observation point reported about the movement of lights on the right side of the Tyualoy River and explosion of a signal mine. The artillery fire was provided on both targets.

Border guards of the Khunzakh border guard detachment detained six violators in the responsibility zone of the detachment during the weekend. All the violators claimed that they were going to visit relatives living in the neighbouring republic. Currently the information they got is being checked.

Border guards also detained 14 poacher vessels and confiscated over 20 boat engines, 4km of nets and 61t of illegally caught fish.

In general the situation in the department's area of responsibility remains quite stable. No attacks on the Chechen and other parts of the border were registered.
