FEDS ELIMINATE 19 NOTORIOUS EXTERMISTS IN CHECHNYA

KHANKALA, June 25 (AVN) - Federal troops eliminated 19 notorious extremists wanted by special services including Chechen warlord Arbi Barayev while carrying out the six day-long special operation near the Alkhan-Kala, Alkhan-Yurt, Kulary and Yermolovsky villages, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters in the North Caucasus said on Monday.

Among those extremists are Barayev's cousin Timur Aftayev, field commanders Maus Dzhamandinov, Rustam Idilkiriyev, Rukhman Giliskhanov, Vakhid Bersanov, Ilyas Isayev, Adim Amir, Aslambek Aliyev and others, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. Barayev himself battled the federal troops with over 300 people in the past and was related to capturing hundreds of hostages and killing 170 people.

Rebels blasted a local administration installation in the Dyshne-Vedeno village. No casualties were registered, but the installation was completely ruined. Servicemen destroyed a cache near Makhkety with three machine-guns, 35 grenade launcher rounds, over 2,000 cartridges and a pistol. A 40-strong guerilla group was found in a forest near the Belty village. The majority of those rebels were the Ukrainian mercenaries. The operation on their detaining is underway.

Six rebels died while planting a home-made explosive device 2km west to the Belorechye village.
