ARMY HELIS INFLICT STRIKE ON REBEL GROUP IN GROZNY SUBURB

KHANKALA, June 26 (AVN) -Federal army aviation has accomplished more than 70 sorties in Chechnya during past 24 hours, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency on Tuesday.

During planned search and scouting flights the aircraft monitored the situation on the ways of military and civil traffic in the Grozny rural, Gudermes and Itum-Kale districts. MI-8 Hip helicopters fitted with IR imagers took off two times. MI-24 Hind fire support helicopters scattered a 15 or 20-strong rebel group in a Grozny suburb. Helicopters also hammered small guerrilla groups, their camps and bases in the southern part of the republic. Four illegal oil installations in the Nozhai-Yurt district were eliminated by air strikes.

MI-8 Hip and MI-26 Halo military and transport helicopters airlifted about 80 people and 12t load in the interests of the group and at the requests of local administrations.
