ST.PETERSBURG, June 27 (AVN) - The volume of the state defence order for production of military and dual-purpose satellites placed with the local Arsenal machine-building plant may increase considerably in 2002, chairman of the Arsenal board of directors Vitaly Sychev said on Wednesday.
Sychev was asked by the Military News Agency to comment on results of Russian Space Troops Commander Anatoly Perminov's visit to the plant.
According to him, space-related products account of about 50 percent of the plant's output. Arsenal is planning to build only one Yantar space photo-intelligence satellite this year. The Yantar series was designed by the TsSKB-Progress missile and space centre.
Suchev said he and Perminov had discussed extension of satellites' service life from three to four years to seven to 10 years during the meeting.
