MOSCOW, July 3 (AVN) - Secretary of the Russian Security Council Vladimir Rushailo met Kyrgyz Ambassador to Russia Kemelbek Nanayev on Tuesday, a spokesman for the council administration told the Military News Agency.
The two officials discussed a broad range of issues related to interaction between Russia and Kyrgyzstan in various spheres, primarily in the field of security, the spokesman said. Rushailo and Nanayev exchanged opinions on implementation of the bilateral economic co-operation programme for the period from 2000 to 2009.
They stressed, in particular, that the potential of the Russian-Kyrgyz co-operation development includes promising projects in such spheres as electric energy production, water utilisation, machine-building and agriculture.
Commenting on results of the meeting Rushailo stressed that "it is necessary to pool efforts to ensure international security in the post-Soviet area, in particular, to counteract expansion of international terrorism and extremism coming from the Afghan areas controlled by Taliban."
The two officials confirmed the intention to enhance interaction, including in the military sphere, to neutralise Islamic extremists' attempts at destabilising the situation in Central Asia. "For this reason we have agreed to use all possibilities of our law-enforcement agencies," Rushailo said.
