VLADIKAVKAZ. July 3 (AVN) - Six federal servicemen were killed near Chechnya's Assinovskaya village on Monday, a spokesman for the servicemen's unit headquarters told the Military News Agency.
The soldiers served in a regiment of the 19th motorised rifle division, which is organic to the 58th army, the spokesman said. They were part of a group of a mobile checkpoint which was led by Senior Lieutenant Lev Gladkov, deputy commander of a scouting platoon in the 2nd motorised rifle company.
The group was destroyed by a pinpoint blast at 17.20 Moscow time (1310 GMT). Sergeants Dmitry Krutov and Sergei Yeroshevsky, Privates Sergei Kakayev, Alexei Mishin, Mikhail Troshchy and Vladimir Brazhnikov were killed, while Senior Lieutenant Lev Gladkov, Junior Sergeant Alexei Shevchuk, Privates Alexei Kotelnikov and Viktor Kuznetsov were injured.
The bodies of the killed are to be taken from Assinovskaya to the army headquarters in the city of Vladikavkaz on Tuesday. They will be reposing in state on Thursday.
