KHANKALA, July 4 (AVN) - A patrol of the Grozny military commandant's office eliminated a resident of the Bas-Gordali village, 36, when he refused to show documents and attempted to put up resistance, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency on Wednesday.
The resident had on him a Makarov pistol with two magazines and a hand grenade, the spokesman said.
Commandant patrols detained four suspected rebels near the Dyshne-Vedeno village. During the search servicemen found and confiscated from them two Kalashnikov assault rifles and a huge number of cartridges.
The federal units destroyed nine hidden shelters and 17 illegal oil refineries during search and special operations in Chechnya on Tuesday. They took from caches five pieces of small arms, 14 hand grenades, 41 mortar shells, 119 portable grenade launcher rounds, some 1.5kg of explosives and over 7,500 cartridges. Sappers found and defused two landmines planted by rebels in the Kirov-Yurt and Urus-Martan villages.
