SLATINA, July 5 (AVN) - The 13th battalion-size task force of the Russian military contingent commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Oleg Karagaichev and operating in US Sector East on the border with Macedonia is put on high alert, a spokesman for the contingent headquarters told the Military News Agency on Thursday.
A corresponding decision was made by contingent commander Major General Vladimir Kazantsev after a recent attack of Albanian separatists at Russian peacekeepers' mobile patrol in the area.
The guard of the task force's basic area in the town of Kamenitsa and basic areas of paratrooper companies was reinforced as well. The Russian peacekeepers are forbidden to leave the stationing areas in free time. 27 scouting groups of the contingent, as well as four combat helicopters of the 27th aircraft group located in Slatina, are ready for quick operations in the task force's responsibility area in case tensions escalate on the border.
