INTERIOR MINISTRY TO DISBAND ITS MAIN STAFF

MOSCOW, July 6 (AVN) - The post of chief-of-staff and deputy minister is not envisaged in the new Interior Ministry establishment, a spokesman for the interior minister's administration told the Military News Agency on Friday.

During the next reform the ministry's main staff will be transformed back into the inspection department, the spokesman said.

Major General Alexander Bokov, 49, was appointed chief of the restored department. He has served in the police since 1972. Bokov finished a police college, then was junior and medium-rank commander in the Uzbek police. In the past few years he worked as chief-of-staff of the Moscow police department on air and river transport, chief inspector of the Interior Ministry inspection department and first deputy chief of the ministry's department of operation and technical measures.

Bokov replaced Colonel General Alexander Smirny who was appointed chief of the Interior Ministry R&D institute.
