GANGSTERS ROB KAMAZ TRUCK WITH MILITARY MATERIEL IN VOLGOGRAD

VOLGOGRAD, July 6 (AVN) - A KamAZ military truck that transported military-technical materiel was robbed here overnight to Friday, a spokesman for the local police department told the Military News Agency.

The robbers stole 22 sets of tires and six batteries worth a total of over RUR70,000 (USD2,400), the spokesman said.

The truck supervised by Captain Oleg Ostroumov and driven by Sergeant Alexander Zhubkov was returning from Moscow to Astrakhan after delivering component parts for repairs and receiving materiel. At about midnight the truck was crossing a railway in the industrial zone of Volgograd's Krasnoarmeinsky district when a group of unidentified people without arms surrounded it. The attackers beat up both servicemen, unloaded the truck and escaped.

After reaching the nearest police department Ostroumov told policemen about the accident. The search of criminals and cargo had no results. The Krasnoarmeinsky district police department launched investigation and the military prosecutor of the Caspian flotilla was informed about the accident.
