KHANKALA, July 9 (AVN) - Chechen rebels made one blast and attacked police and Interior Ministry units 14 times on Sunday, a spokesman for the ministry's department for Chechnya told the Military News Agency.
No casualties were registered among federals but two servicemen were wounded, the spokesman said.
Rebels fired assault rifles at servicemen of an Interior Ministry scouting group near the Duba-Yurt village at 7.30 Moscow time (0330 GMT). As a result two servicemen were wounded.
Officers of the Buryatian elite police special unit were riding two vehicles in the Zavodskoy district of Grozny. An unidentified explosive device went off on a tree near the street they were riding on at 13.40 Moscow time (0940 GMT). No casualties were registered and no vehicles were damaged.
Federal policemen carried out eight search and preventive operations in Chechnya on Sunday, the spokesman said. They checked 18,176 people and 12,381 vehicles and registered 479 administrative offences, including 185 violations of passport rules.
The police seized two grenade launchers, an assault rifle, a pistol, a hunting rifle, 12 hand grenades, 57 artillery shells, 2,033 small-arms cartridges and 4.8kg of explosives. Besides, four illegal oil refineries were eliminated.
