MINSK, July 11 (AVN) - Security measures in the spheres of economy, information security, combating terrorism and extremism, organised crime, illegal arms and drugs turnover will become the basis of the joint security maintenance plan which is being developed by Russia and Belarus, Oleg Chernov, deputy secretary of the Russian Security Council told reporters here on Wednesday.
Council secretary Vladimir Rushailo holds detailed discussions on the measures with Belarussian leaders during his current working visit to the republic, Chernov told a news conference.
The draft plan also takes into account foreign threats aimed equally against Belarus and Russia, a source in the Belarussian Security Council administration told the Military News Agency. The most serious threat is the NATO eastward expansion for emergence of the Alliance's outposts on the borders of the Russia-Belarus Union will complicate the situation of the two nations, which is not very easy already.The NATO stll aims at military-political opposition and geopolitical domination. The only way for Russia and Belarus to oppose those threats is to work together on the strengthening of the union borders and maintenance of its defence capacity.
