KAZAKH ARMY HOLDS WIDE-SCALE OPERATIONAL, TACTICAL EXERCISE

ASTANA, July 12 (AVN) - The biggest operational and technical training in the history of the Kazakh Armed Forces ended in the Almaty, Zhambyl and South-Kazakhstan regions of the country on Thursday, a spokesman for the Kazakh Defence Ministry told the Military News Agency.

The southern group troops showed high combat abilities and accomlished all stated tasks during the exercise, Defence Minister Alibek Kasymov said summing up prelimitary results of the training. All military control bodies, local authorities, almost 4,500 servicemen and 150 pieces of ordnance were involved in the war games, he said.

The main task of the training supervised by Kasymov was to practise elements of warfare related to blocking and eliminating large rebel groups in the daytime and at night with the help of frontline and army aviation.
