KHANKALA, July 13 (AVN) - Rebels made one blast and attacked police and Interior Ministry units eight times on Thursday, a spokesman for the ministry's department for Chechnya told the Military News Agency.
As a result three local residents died and two policemen and a local resident were injured.
A KamAZ truck belonging to the local administration's construction department touched off an explosive device near a checkpoint in Grozny's Oktyabrsky district at 10.35 Moscow time (0635 GMT). The blast injured a 43-year-old local resident of the Gerzel-Aul village who was taken to hospital.
An explosive device went off at a roadside in the Staraya Sunzha village at 21.30 Moscow time (1730 GMT) when a Zhiguli car was passing by. As a result two local residents, husband and wife, received lethal injuries.
Another explosive device blasted under a freight train at the 2,185th kilometre of the North Caucasus railway at the span between the Kadi-Yurt and Khasavjurt terminals in the Gudermes district at 12.30 Moscow time (0830 GMT). No casualties were registered, but two cross-ties were damaged. The traffic was restored at 17.15 Moscow time (1315 GMT).
Federal policemen carried out 15 search and preventive operations in Chechnya on Thursday, the spokesman said. They checked 2,357 people and 12,019 vehicles and registered 534 administrative offences, including 185 violations of passport rules.
The police seized two grenade launchers, three assault rifles, 10 mortar and artillery shells, 32 grenades and grenade launcher rounds, 2,406 small-arms cartridges and 0.2kg of TNT. Besides, two illegal oil refineries were eliminated.
