KHANKALA, July 17 (AVN) - Federal SU-24 Fencer and SU-25 Frogfoot planes were grounded in Chechnya on Monday while an AN-30 Clank air scout flew a sortie, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency.
MI-24 Hind fire support helicopters convoyed three columns and a train and accomplished nine control missions on main routes of military and civil transport. An extremist ambush with four people, a rebel strongpoint and two blindages were eliminated as a result of air strikes in the Itum-Kale district. MI-8 Hip and MI-26 Halo transport helicopters airlifted 83 people and 17t of cargo in the interests of the federal group and at the requests from local administrations.
IL-76 Candid, AN-12 Cub and AN-26 Curl planes delivered 250 people and over 40t of technical cargo to Mozdok, the main federal base in the North Caucasus, and back to central Russia.
