KHANKALA, July 20 (AVN) - Federal SU-25 Frogfoot attack planes and SU-24 Fencer frontline bombers flew two sorties each to obtain reconnaissance data in Chechnya on Thursday, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency.
The planes inflicted air strikes on targets in hard-to-reach mountainous areas, destroyed an ammo cache and a dump extremist camp and set several abatis on routes of rebel groups.
MI-24 Hind fire support helicopters accomplished 18 missions convoying three columns and destroying a rebel strongpoint. MI-8 Hip and MI-26 Halo transport helicopters airlifted 89 people and 14t of cargo in the interests of the federal group and at the requests from local administrations. Helicopters of the search and rescue service flew seven sorties to evacuate dead and injured people from the site of the MI-8 helicopter crash near the Engenoi village.
IL-18 Coot, AN-12 Cub and AN-26 Curl planes delivered 274 people and 12t of technical cargo to Mozdok, the main federal base in the North Caucasus, and back to central Russian regions.
