BELARUS TO HOLD LARGE-SCALE MILITARY EXERCISE IN AUGUST, SEPTEMBER

MINSK, July 23 (AVN) - The Belarussian Armed Forces, other troops and military formations will hold a complex operational and tactical exercise in August and September, a spokesman for the Defence Ministry said on Monday.

The exercise will also involve the Interior Ministry troops, state border guard troops committee and railway troops, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. It will take place at the Gozh, Domanovsky, Obuz-Lesnovsky, Dretun, Polesye and Ruzha proving ranges.

Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko is expected to attend the exercise's final stage. In particular, he will see the combat co-ordination phase, several phases of the tactical training with live firing and actions of a border guard detachment.

Belarus has not hold such large-scale exercises since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the spokesman said.
