KHANKALA, July 26 (AVN) - Chechen rebels attacked police and Interior Ministry units 10 times on Wednesday, injuring two people, a spokesman for the ministry's department for Chechnya told the Military News Agency.
Rebels attacked an Interior Ministry unit's temporary stationing point in the Mekhkety village at 0.45 Moscow time on Wednesday (2045 GMT on Tuesday) and wounded a serviceman. A policeman was wounded during the rebel attack on a temporary stationing point in the Khatuni village at 23.50 Moscow time (1950 GMT).
The police carried out 12 search and preventive operations in the breakaway republic on Wednesday, the spokesman said. They checked 23,377 people and 12,378 vehicles and exposed 330 administrative offences, including 125 violations of passport rules. Policemen seized a flame-thrower, a grenade launcher, an assault rifle, a pistol, two hunting rifles, 50 grenade launcher rounds, 12 hand grenades, 2,156 small-arms cartridges, 0.2kg of TNT and 0.35kg of drugs.
