MOSCOW, July 30 (AVN) - Pilots of the flight testing and completion base of the Sukhoi design bureau will take off an S-80 multifunctional plane in the town of Zhukovsky, Moscow region, by the end of the week, a spokesman for the bureau administration told the Military News Agency on Monday.
The plane is aimed at accomplishing transport, passenger (transportation of about 26 passengers) and patrolling tasks. The S-80 plane together with the SU-38L light agricultural plane, which took off for the first time on July 27, will be exhibited among the new planes at the MAKS 2001 aircraft show.
The S-80 plane produced by the Komsomolsk-on-Amur aircraft production enterprise can be used for both military and civil purposes. It differs from other planes by efficiency of passengers and load transportation with low expenditures, independence of use at an unprepared airfield with short take-off and landing lines, low expenditures for technical service and repair, and wide use range with the temperature of from 50 degrees Celsius below zero up to 45 degrees Celsius above zero. The flight range of the plane with 3,500kg load is 650km and with 1,950kg load is 2,250km.
