MOSCOW, July 31 (AVN) - The transportation of heavy ordnance of the airborne peacekeeping troops from Bosnia on trains will end in the near future, a spokesman for the airborne headquarters told the Military News Agency on Tuesday.
The withdrawal takes place under the auspices of transformation of the 1st separate airborne brigade into the 22nd separate paratrooper regiment of the airborne peacekeeping troops which is the part of SFOR. The third and the last train with combat equipment and ammo left the Bielina terminal in Bosnia for Russia. The train has 20 airborne fighting vehicles, 15 pieces of wheeled equipment and several cars with ammo.
The withdrawal will end within the stated terms i. e. up to August 1 in accordance with the directive from Chief-of-Staff Anatoly Kvashnin, the spokesman said. Two other trains with the withdrawn equipment already arrived in the Orekhovo-Zuyevo terminal in the Moscow region. The equipment totally comprises 60 pieces of ordnance including BMD-1 and BMD-2 airborne fighting vehicles as well as Nona self-propelled artillery systems, 50 vehicles and some 200t of ammo.
