DIVERS TO DISASSEMBLE AUXILIARY SYSTEMS NEAR 5TH COMPARTMENT OF DEAD KURSK SUB

MOSCOW, August 1 (AVN) - Divers started on Wednesday the marking of technological openings made in the steady hull near the 5th compartment of the dead Kursk nuclear submarine, a spokesman for the Navy Staff told the Military News Agency.

Divers also continue the disassembly of cut-off plate in the submarine's light hull near the 7th and 8th compartments and will make more technological openings in the light hull. They will also start the disassembly of auxiliary systems near the 5th compartment.

The Sverdrup scout vessel of Norway continues to monitor the Kursk recovery operation. The Norwegian vessel is observed by the Severomorsk large antisubmarine ship.

The weather conditions at the site are getting worse, the spokesman said. Currently the wind speed is 12m/s while the sea swell is three to four points.
