MOSCOW, August 2 (AVN) - Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov signed a regulation on allocation of finances to the Emergencies Ministry aimed at provision of humanitarian aid to Mongolia, the government information department reported on Thursday.
The aid will be provided in order to eliminate consequences of heavy snowfalls and prevent foot and mouth disease.
The Emergencies Ministry will receive RUR13.3m (USD452,936) from the government reserve fund on preventing and eliminating emergencies and their consequences as well as about USD95,000 from the funds envisaged in the stage budget for 2001 in its part on international activities. The money will be paid for obtaining and supplies of humanitarian cargo to Mongolia.
The operation will be carried out by the Russian national humanitarian emergency reaction corps. In accordance with the regulation the Ministry of Agriculture will help obtain all-mash and vaccine against foot and mouth disease.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry already supplied over 1.5m of vaccines against the disease, almost 3,000t of all-mash and large amount of foodstuffs and medicine to Mongolia with the help of the Swiss Co-operation and Development Agency under the auspices of the UN international humanitarian operation.
