BELARUSSIAN ARMED FORCES TO SWITCH TO TWO-SERVICE SYSTEM SOON

MINSK, August 3 (AVN) - The Belarussian Armed Forces will switch in the near future to the two-service system which is to feature the Land Forces and unified Air Force and air defence troops, Belarussian Defence Minister Leonid Maltsev told the Military News Agency on Friday.

The unification of Air Force and air defence troops will happen under the auspices of establishment of the unified Belarussian and Russian regional air defence system. The single control system over the unified service will permit to accomplish co-operation missions with Russian Air Force command even faster, Maltsev said. The Land Forces Command will be formed to control the Land Forces operations.

Both services will be checked for the first time during the forthcoming Neman operational and tactical training of the Belarussian Armed Forces, which is to be held in late August.
