MOSCOW, August 6 (AVN) - A 70-strong group of foreign Air Force attaches and Russian public officials flew from the Chkalovsky airfield in the Moscow region to Akhtubinsk, the Astrakhan region, on Monday, Air Force Commander Anatoly Kornukov told the Military News Agency.
A show of new samples of modernised military aircraft will be held on the testing ground of the Defence Ministry 929th state flight testing centre in Groshevo located 15km from the Akhtubinsk airfield.
Apart from samples of the frontline aviation main planes and army aviation helicopters and industrial aircraft, the centre received IL-76MF, IL-76MD and AN-70 planes with landing platforms and paratroopers. More than 20 pieces of modernised aircraft will take part in the show demonstrating their combat use at air and land targets in day and night conditions in the framework of the MAKS 2001 international aircraft show.
