MOSCOW, August 7 (AVN) - Lieutenant General Yuri Klishin, deputy Air Force commander on armament, cleared up details on the modernisation of IL-76MF Candid strategic transport plane.
The plane's capability will be increased from 1.3 to 1.5 times, its fuel efficiency at 12 percent, range of flight with medium fuel volume at 15 percent. Moreover, the Candid's noise level is lowered in accordance with the standards, the Kupol-II-76 piloting and navigation system is replaced with the Kupol-III-76, the plane is capable to transport 217 instead of 145 people, its take-off weight increased from 190t to 200t with further increase up to 210t while the payload reached 52t from 48t with further increase up to 60t.
The IL-76MF plane is a variant of the IL-76MD with PS-90A-76 turbo-jet engines and prolonged at 6.6 metres cargo cabin. The plane is aimed at transporting cargo and equipment in containers and on trays at the range of up to 5,000 metres with the payload of up to 52t.
The Air Force is also planning to involve AN-70 operational and technical transport plane with shortened take-off and landing. It has high transport specifications and its cargo cabin volumes helps transport and drop 100 percent of the Air Force arms and equipment and 70 percent of the Land Forces arms and equipment. The AN-70 plane is two to 2.5 times better than AN-12 Cub plane in its transport and combat potential.
