AMURMASH DEFENCE ENTERPRISE TO BE TRANSFORMED INTO CIVIL PLANT

KHABAROVSK, August 8 (AVN) - The Amurmash production enterprise which was then the defence company will be transformed into the Far Eastern instrument-engineering plant in the near future, a spokesman for the Khabarovsk territory administration told the Military News Agency on Wednesday.

The decision on the matter was made by the territory's Governor Viktor Ishayev. The conversion is aimed at creating new jobs and stabilisation of social and economic situation in the town of Amursk. The enterprise which did not implement any defence order in the past several years has production facilities and staff potential and will keep them through the conversion. The plant will produce high quality cutting and drilling instruments, spare parts, non-standard equipment for energy and mining industries, railway transport and vehicles. That is why the advance technologies will be used at the plant which are to help make products to compete with imported ones.

The first level of the reform envisages creation of 300 jobs. According to the specialists, the plant will reach the production volume of RUR6m (USD204,617) per months by December 2002 and RUR85m (USD2.90m) per year by 2005. A credit agreement between the enterprise and Dalkombank bank will be signed to reform and develop production and that is how the bank will receive guarantees from the Khabarovsk territory administration.
