MOSCOW, August 9 (AVN) - Divers are cutting technological openings in the light hull of the 4th compartment of the dead Kursk submarine and make three openings in the 7th compartment, a spokesman for the Navy Staff told the Military News Agency on Thursday.
Divers already completed work in the 5th and 8th compartments of the submarine. At the same time the P. Halila Charmer towboat mounted three anchors to fix the barge at the recovery operation site.
The Carrier special barge is expected to be at the site in forthcoming three days. The barge will mount special equipment and start working on separation of the 1st compartment probably on August 12.
The wind's speed at the recovery operation place is almost 8m/s while the sea swell is two points. The radiation situation is normal.
