CHECHEN WARLORD KHATTAB ACCUSES SUBORDINATE FOR NON-PURPOSE EXPENDITURES

GROZNY, August 9 (AVN) - Chechen notorious warlord Khattab accused field commander Ruslan Gelayev of non-purpose spending of USD250,000 allocated to him in June to July which he must have spent on provision of arms of his detachment and organisation of its transportation from Georgia to Chechnya, a competent source told the Military News Agency on Thursday.

Gelayev accused Khattab in his turn of on-purpose increase of the sum handed over to the detachment. He says he got less money and allegedly this sum was not enough to transport his detachment from the Georgian Pankisi gorge to Chechnya. Representative of the Muslim brothers organisation Abu Khafez acts as a mediator to settle this conflict.

Three groups of Gelayev's detachment tried to break through to Chechnya near the Sharo-Argun gorge all the same, the spokesman for the unified federal group told the Agency. Border guards supported by army formations prevented the attempt. After a short shootout the extremists escaped to the Georgian territory.
