BAKU, August 9 (AVN) - The future of the Gabala radar, the single military object controlled by Russian troops on the Azerbaijani territory, will be clear soon, a source in Baku told the Military News Agency on Thursday.
The republic leadership will take the decision on the basis of materials of the Russian-Azerbaijan commission on estimation of the station environmental influence. The radar will complete its work in the near future.
"The parties will sign an agreement on the station status on the basis of the commission conclusions," Azerbaijan Prime Minister Artur Rasizade told the agency. He said that Russia owed Azerbaijan USD300,000 for energy supply to the radar.
The legal status of the radar must have been discussed during Russian President Putin's visit to Baku in January this year. Though it was not signed due to disagreements between the parties on the station status.
