RUSSIAN BORDER GUARDS REGISTER WARFARE ON AFGHAN TERRITORY

DUSHANBE, August 13 (AVN) - Russian border guards on the Tajikistan-Afghanistan frontier have registered warfare on the Afghan territory adjacent to the strap controlled by the Panj detachment, a spokesman for the Russian border guard group in Tajikistan told the Military News Agency on Monday.

Servicemen of the Northern Alliance and Talibs were engaged in intensive fights using small arms only. This may show that both parties lack shells, said the spokesman. The Moscow, Panj, Kalai-Khumb and Khorog border guard detachments have been put on high alert.
