KHANKALA, August 14 (AVN) - Federal servicemen found 24 caches with arms, ammo and explosives in Chechnya while carrying out search and reconnaissance operations on Monday, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency.
Servicemen in the Achkhoi-Martan and Urus-Martan districts destroyed four caches in each district, as well as a total of 19 illegal oil refineries. Several more refineries were eliminated in the Gekhi, Goity, Starye Atagi, Makhety and Kharachoi villages while a large explosives cache was found in the Katyr-Yurt village.
During the operations federals confiscated 23 pieces of small arms, nine artillery and 32 mortar shells and over 1kg of explosives from local residents. Sappers defused nine landmines planted by rebels on motorways and near important installations near the Kharachoi, Makhety and Mairtup villages.
