BORDER GUARD HELI CRASHES IN CHECHNYA

MOSCOW, August 14 (AVN) - A MI-8 Hip helicopter of the Federal Border Guard Service (FBGS) crashed in Chechnya at 11.45 Moscow time (0745 GMT) on Tuesday, an FBGS spokesman told the Military News Agency.

The crash occurred some 15km south of the Tuskhoroi village when the helicopter was making its final approach to land a border patrol at the site of service some 2,000m above the sea level. At that moment the aircraft commanded by Major Andrei Kiriyenko went out of control, fell aside and fell in a gorge.

Several people were killed and injured in the crash. Rescue works are underway.
