MOSCOW, August 15 (AVN) - A group of officers of the Federal Border Guard Service (FBGS) headed by first deputy chief of the aviation department Major General Anatoly Zheleznov will fly to Chechnya on Wednesday to investigate the MI-8 Hip helicopter crash, a spokesman for the FBGS said.
The crash took place 15km south of the Tuskhoroi village on Tuesday, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. The helicopter carried four crew members and four border guards. As a result of the crash pilot-navigator Major Vladimir Turovtsev, on-board mechanic Captain Vladimir Burakov and border guard patrol senior Major Konstantin Oranov died and the rest of the servicemen received injuries of various gravity. All of them were evacuated for treatment. One border guard was taken to a hospital in Vladikavkaz while the rest were sent to the Itum-Kale border guard detachment.
