SECOND STAGE OF COLLECTIVE FORCES TRAINING STARTS IN CENTRAL ASIA

BISHKEK, August 21 (AVN) - Lieutenant General Alexander Makarov, deputy head of the CIS military co-operation co-ordination headquarters, arrived here on Tuesday to take part in the command post training of command bodies managing the Collective Rapid-Deployment Forces in Central Asia, a spokesman for the Kyrgyz Defence Ministry told the Military News Agency.

Makarov will attend the second stage of the training that starts on Wednesday, the spokesman said. The first stage took place at the co-ordination headquarters in Moscow on August 16 and 17. It was supervised by Collective Rapid-Deployment Forces Commander Major General Sergei Chernomordin of Russia and Chief-of-Staff Colonel Nasypbek Abdybekov of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the spokesman, the second stage will be supervised by Kyrgyz Defence Minister Esen Topoyev. It will involve the forces staff led by Abdybekov, commands and staffs of Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Russian and Tajik battalions forming part of the forces. Participants of the training are to practise combat application of the battalions, interaction between means and forces in a special period. The second stage will last three days and the practice is expected to take place on maps and in the field.
