KIEV, August 21 (AVN) - President Leonid Kuchma has instituted posts of armed services commanders that will have no words "deputy defence minister of Ukraine" in the title, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Defence Ministry said on Tuesday.
Colonel General Pyotr Shulyak was relieved from duties of deputy defence minister and appointed Land Forces commander, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. Colonel General Viktor Strelnikov was appointed commander of the Air Force, Colonel Vladimir Tkachev commander of the Air Defence troops and Admiral Mikhail Yezhel commander of the Navy. All the three had been deputy defence ministers too.
According to the spokesman, Kuchma will get the list of posts that are to be filled with high-ranking officers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in three months.
