CHECHEN NATIONAL CONGRESS TO TAKE PLACE IN INGUSHETIA SEPT. 15-16

MAGAS, Ingushetia, August 21 (AVN) - The Chechen National Congress will be held here on September 15 to 16, a spokesman for Ingush President Ruslan Aushev's administration told the Military News Agency on Tuesday.

The main aim of the congress is to work out a compromise plan of stopping bloodshed in Chechnya and peaceful settlement in the republic. The congress will approve the declaration on peace in Chechnya and addresses to Russian leaders and Chechen warlords.

The congress will involve some 600 people from the breakaway republic. Moreover, 150 delegates are to be elected by Chechen communities in various Russian regions. The event will also feature almost 150 guests, including officials of federal bodies and human rights activist organisations.
