KALININGRAD, August 21 (AVN) - Aerial and naval partries of the marine brigade under command of Guard Colonel Alexander Darkovich landed on a rough coast on Tuesday under the auspices of the Baltic Fleet training voyage, a spokesman for the fleet headquarters told the Military News Agency.
Two units landed on the coast from large antisubmarine ships being supported by the Nastoichivy and Bespokoiny destroyers. Cadets of the Navy marine training centre landed from an air cushion boat. The total number of landed servicemen exceeded 300. The operation was observed by Navy Commander Vladimir Kuroyedov, Kaliningrad Region Governor Valery Gorbenko, officials from Russian and Belarussian Defence Ministries as well as Lithuanian Consul in Kaliningrad Vitautus Zalis, who attends the training for the first time.
Artillery and jet depth bomb firing has been carried in the sea by small antisubmarine ships while base and water area trawlers practised trawling and mine planting. The voyage will allow the fleet to complete 67 percent of the combat training plan.
Foreign intelligence services pay close attention to the voyage. Scouting vessels and planes of the Polish, Danish, German and US Armed Forces have been observing the training area since July 30.
