FED SERVICEMAN KILLED BY LANDMINE BLAST IN GROZNY

KHANKALA, August 22 (AVN) - Chechen rebels staged three blasts and opened fire at federal military and police positions 15 times on Tuesday, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency.

Four of the attacks happened in Grozny, the spokesman stressed.

A federal servicemen was killed by a landmine blast in the Leninsky district of the Chechen capital. Engineering units spotted and defused four more landmines.

Besides, federals detained five suspected rebels, seized six pieces of fire-arms and 2kg of TNT during special operations.
