N. CAUCASUS MILITARY DISTRICT CHIEF INSPECTING FED TROOPS IN CHECHNYA

KHANKALA, August 23 (AVN) - The North Caucasus military district commander, Colonel General Gennady Troshev, left for Chechnya on Thursday to inspect units of the unified federal group, a spokesman for the group headquarters told the Military News Agency.

Troshev will hold a conference in Khankala to hear a report of group commander Valery Baranov. He will also meet heads of local law-enforcement agencies.

Later during the trip Troshev will meet Chechnya administration chief Akhmad Kadyrov and Prime Minister Stanislav Ilyasov to discuss in detail the situation in the south-eastern Chechen Vedeno district and in the town of Argun. The commander will pay special attention to preparation for winter of 42nd motorised rifle division units permanently stationed in Chechnya.

The inspection is to end on August 26.
