RUSSIAN, FRENCH PARATROOPERS TO EXCHANGE DELEGATIONS AUG. 31-SEP. 11

MOSCOW, August 24 (AVN) - A paratrooper company of the 106th paratrooper division headquartered in Tula will stay in France as guests of the Colonial Troops paratrooper regiment stationed in the town of Carnacion from August 31 to September 11, Colonel Alexander Tolkachev, chief of the Airborne Staff combat training department and leader of the Russian delegation, said on Friday.

At the same time a French paratrooper company will live in the barracks of the 106th division's training centre, Tolkachev told the Military News Agency.

The main aim of the Russian paratroopers' visit to France is the strengthening of mutual understanding and trust between servicemen of the two countries. It is also mutually helpful to give the military a chance to study the basics of combat and airborne training organisation in the French Airborne.

During the visit 78 Russian paratroopers will live in the French regiment's stationing area and accomplish all missions of their colleagues in accordance with the schedule all day long. The exchange of delegations will end with joint tactical exercises and live firing in training centres near Tula and Carnacion. During the exercises each Russian and French paratrooper will make four jumps from military transports.
