14 COUNTRIES TO TAKE PART IN LITHUANIAN AMBER HOPE 2001 MILITARY TRAINING

VILNYUS, August 27 (AVN) - The Amber Hope 2001 military exercise will be held in Lithuania from August 29 to September 6, a spokesman for the Lithuanian Defence Ministry told the Military News Agency on Monday.

Servicemen of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Great Britain, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Italy, Canada, Poland, the USA, Finland, Czhech and Sweden, will take part in the exercise, said the spokesman. Such exercises have been carried out in Lithuania once in two years since 1997. The aim of the training is practising of joint actions on the scenario of peacekeeping operations.

Representatives of the Russian, Belarussian, Ukrainian and Georgian Defence Ministries are expected to attend Amber Hope 2001 as observers.
