KHANKALA, August 29 (AVN) - Major General Gennady Nakhayev, military commandant of the southern Chechen Shali district, ordered to take additional security measures in the town of Shali, a spokesman for the commandant's office told the Military News Agency on Wednesday.
The police and servicemen scaled up patrolling activities. Additional forces were provided for guarding administrative installations.
The reason for such measures is an untelligence report about forthcoming sabotage and terrorist acts that guerrillas are planning to stage in the town. Among their targets is the local court guarded by two policemen with small arms. Rebels were going to use a car bomb to destroy the building. Federals are doing their best to detain masterminds and potential authors of the failed act.
