CARRIER BARGE ARRIVES AT KURSK SUB DISASTER AREA

MOSCOW, August 30 (AVN) - The Carrier barge arrived at the site of the Kursk recovery operation at 1.00 Moscow time on Thursday (2100 GMT on Wednesday).

The barge accompanied by the Iceberg small missile vessel carries equipment for cutting off the first compartment and for surveying the interhull space in technological openings.

On Wednesday deep sea divers have made additional survey of the first compartment cutting line marked in the technical project. On Thursday they will continue clearing the interhull space for installation of technological baskets for grippers which will be used to lift and transport the submarine.

The radiation level at the operation site does not exceed three microroentgen per hour. The wind strength is some 5m/s and the sea swell is one point.
