PUTIN TO VISIT GENERAL STAFF ACADEMY SATURDAY

MOSCOW, August 30 (AVN) - President Vladimir Putin is planning to visit the General Staff Academy on Saturday, September 1, which is the beginning of a new academic year in Russia, a competent source in the Defence Ministry told the Military News Agency.

Putin is expected to address to the academy students and state the priorities in the sphere of the Armed Forces reform for the period of next five years.

The president will be accompanied by Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov, Interior Minister Boris Gryzlov and Chief-of-Staff of the Armed Forces Anatoly Kvashnin.

Currently the academy employs 255 military scientists, including 35 doctors of sciences and 58 professors. The academy also comprises 16 research schools.
