RF PEACEKEEPERS SEIZING ARMS, AMMO, EXPLOSIVES FROM BOSNIAN RESIDENTS

UGLJEVIC, Bosnia, August 30 (AVN) - The 22nd Russian separate paratrooper regiment within SFOR is fully involved in the Harvest operation aimed at seizing arms, ammo and explosives from local population and their further scrapping, a spokesman for the regiment headquarters located here said on Thursday.

The regiment's mobile groups have lately been seizing arms and ammo from residents of the Janja, Kuzuluk and Grinja villages where rRestoration of houses for Moslem refugees is underway. The Russian peacekeepers have seized and destroyed four grenade launchers and eight rounds to them, three carbines, 10 hand grenades and some 3,000 small-arms cartridges this month.

Russian servicemen have confiscated and scrapped 10 mortars, over 50 pieces of small arms, 260,000 cartridges and almost 7,000 explosive devices on the north-east of Bosnia this year.
