CHECHEN WARLORD KHATTAB TO SUPPLY COMMUNICATION DEVICES TO SUBORDINATES

KHANKALA, August 31 (AVN) - According to radio interception data, Chechen warlord Khattab managed to relocate a batch of short wave radio stations from Georgia to Russia's breakaway region.

Khattab has promised that field commanders with call signs of Marvan, Sharif, Gerat, Dzhambulai, Sayad and Rizvan will receive those radio stations in the near future, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency on Friday. According to the specialists, the use of such modern communication devices will allow Khattab to improve co-ordination of rebel groups actions.

A multifunctional satellite communication system was bought by Djamal Mazar, member of the so-called Council on Chechnya of the Muslim Brothers extremist organisation, in order to maintain communication between Khattab and foreign investors. The system and its servicing specialists will be relocated to the breakaway republic in early September.

According to the spokesman, 18 cases of radio communication with Khattab were registered on Thursday. The radio traffic was the most intense in the Vedeno and Kurchaloi districts as well as in Grozny.
