Moscow, September 4 (AVN) - Russian border guards blocked seven armed violators of the Tajikistan-Afghanistan frontier on the Tajik bank of the Panj River at 3.00 Moscow time on Tuesday (2300 GMT on Monday), a spokesman for the Russian border guard group headquarters told the Military News Agency.
The violators fired assault rifles at the patrol. At the same time, the border guards came under machine-gun fire from Afghanistan. The servicemen fired back, scattering the violator group and suppressing firing points on the Afghan bank. Some 150kg were found on the site of the engagement. There were no losses among the Russian servicemen.
Over 2t of heroin have been seized on the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border this year, the spokesman said.
