RF OFFICIAL, JAPANESE BUSINESSMEN NEGOTIATE ON INVESTMENTS

Nizhny Novgorod, Volga Region, September 4 (AVN) - Sergei Kiriyenko, chief of the Russian state commission on chemical disarmament and President Vladimir Putin's envoy to the Volga federal district, will end his visit to Japan on Tuesday, a spokesman for the Kiriyenko administration said on Tuesday.

During his visit Kiriyenko met Takashi Imai, chairman of the Keidanren Federation of Economic Organisations, and other businessmen, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. Particularly, they negotiated on investments to the oil and chemical industry and development of transport corridors which are the top priority spheres in the Volga district infrastructure.

Kiriyenko told the businessmen about the state of reforms in Russia and drew their attention to the investment climate in the country that had improved considerably. The improvement is manifested primarily in the growth of domestic investments into industrial enterprises. According to Kiriyenko, "the Nizhny Novgorod region alone has singed investment agreements estimated at over USD1.5bn in the past year."

Kiriyenko will fly to Moscow on Tuesday evening and take place in the opening of the United Russia research and industrial forum in Nizhny Novgorod on Wednesday.
