RUSSIAN DM RESTORES CONTROL OVER HIS MINISTRY'S PRESS SERVICE

Moscow, September 5 (AVN) - Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov has restored direct control over his ministry's press service that was controlled by the Armed Forces main political work department since May 2000, the Military News Agency learned on Wednesday.

A corresponding provision is included in the statute of the Defence Ministry's press service that has been approved by Ivanov. The minister's order also instructs commanders of all armed services, branches, military districts and fleets to develop and approve draft statutes of press services of their subordinate military structures by December 1 this year. The drafts are to be co-ordinated with the Defence Ministry.
